Blogistics

Let’s get the boring stuff out of the way today…

In general, I will try to post at least once a day. The posts will appear in reverse chronological order, with newer posts at the top of the page. If you want to read the blog in order, start at the bottom and read backwards.

Whenever you see something underlined in my blog, that is a link to a relevant story behind the post. You can click on those links, or on any of the related links in the sidebar. You can also click on photos to see larger versions of them.

Please feel free to comment on any of my posts, or to send me an email, as I love to hear from the people who are reading. Comments are moderated, so they do not appear on the blog until I have had a chance to approve them (this is because the blog is public and ANYBODY could try to post a comment, including something that might be inappropriate).

I plan to focus on the sporting, broadcasting, and cultural aspects of my stay in Beijing. While there are other subjects (relevant to current events in China) that I might normally want to talk about too, I don't think it would be prudent of me to do so while I am a visitor there.

Tomorrow is my travel day, literally, it will take almost 24 hours to get from my house to the Media Village, including a 14.5 hour direct flight from Chicago to Beijing. The long flight is an NBC charter flight, and I am in coach, but am guaranteed an empty seat beside me, so I hope I can sleep a bit. I leave home at 7:30am tomorrow, and arrive at the Media Village around 6pm (local time) on Sunday.

See you in China!

a litle plane trick if the person in front of you is too enthusiastic about reclining their seat (and invades your already limited space....)

program start
"loop until satisfied"
1) wet your fingers enough so there is water droplets on your skin
2) pretend to sneeze and flick your fingers in the diection of the front seat.....
"endloop"
program end

Not that I have used this technique but I can tell you I have seen it used and it works :) :)

Hey Sean,

Thanks for thinking to let me know about this blog - I'll be reading it with interest, not least because I plan to be in Beijing next fall....
